MSNBC: Wasilla Banning gets a minute in the MSM.

************************

Yea! FINALLY!

MSNBC is covering the 'banning' story!

They are quoting .... .TMP no names given, but ... it's a START!

Unfortunately, they didn't mention the fact that while the event was strictly monitored by Team Sarah, pictures of the President photoshopped to look like Hitler were approved!

This really isn't a joking matter; I wrote about this extensively in a previous post on this blog. It speaks to the very heart of why Freedom of Speech is the cornerstone of freedom. Sarah's actions are an indication that not only does she NOT UNDERSTAND this, but that she feels empowered to ignore it!

This is worth taking a stand!

Why? Because I feel that Sarah ONLY has the power allowed to her by people who don't challenge her. Think of it as a parent who gives in to a toddler's temper tantrums, because it's easier than taking a stand against inappropriate behaviour; it's tacit approval/encouragement.

Sarah once said (about redecorating her office, I think?):

I can do what I like, until the court tells me I can't.

As long as people don't object, Sarah 'does what she wants to until the courts tell her differently' .....

If the few people who COULD take a stand don't ... then they are giving Sarah that power.

This past week, I have sent many emails, posted on as many blogs/comments boards as I could, hoping to make as many people aware of Sarah's commitment to the Constitution and its spirit as possible.

I urge people to take the time to do this. It's important to reach those people who might think Sarah is 'harmless' and highlight this serious aspect of why Sarah is so 'popular'.

Let's not let the 'appearance' of being un-opposed be un-challenged.

    Lurking Palinistas:

The Constitution is NOT an activist document that has it out for Sarah.

  4. Good post. There are several critical issues here. The rights of the individual citizen, the right to assemble, free speech, peaceful protest, etc. etc.
Official police presence is a different thing. And quite frightening to me. It doesn't matter what your political views are; conservative vs. progressive. The fact is, in this country, private individuals CANNOT PAY for police protection and services.

Wasilla Police Department must be held accountable for its policy decisions.

  5. Looks like the blogger at C4P doesn't understand English. Twice (not once, but twice) he mis-used "allegedly" (see quotes below). Is he trying to play like he's a real journalist by using a reporter's jargon, but having trouble figuring out the lingo? I hate to tell him but both of those sources DID, in fact, write those reports.

"Update: ABC is allegedly reporting that Rush is in 'stable condition.'"

"Update #2: KITV has allegedly confirmed that Rush will not be released this evening."

  6. "If God didn't want us to eat animals, why did he make them out of meat?" - S. Palin, 2009

Fuck, she's a genius! I'm going to use variations on this argument for everything.

"If God didn't want us to smash one another over the head with heavy objects, why did he make all these rocks and leave them lying around all over the joint?"

"If God didn't want us to sleep with our cousins, why did he make them so attractive?"

"If God didn't want us to eat other people, why did he make them out of meat?"

  7. Actually, Sarah4ever, it was Homer Simpson that said that.

I'm not sure if that makes it worse or better however.

  8. Why must people insult her children...?

Because sometimes the only way to fight those who spew hatred is to give it right back.

I went from hating everything about her to realizing her comedic value when Katie Couric flat out asked her if she truly felt the proximity of her state to Russia made her a foreign policy expert.

    Palin said it did.

I never thought I'd ever "share a moment" with a television reporter like I did that day. I may need to look it up on Youtube again.

When you make your family a political prop, don't be surprised when people say your husband is an America-Hating seperatist, your daughter had unwed teenage sex and got knocked up, and that you always bring up how much you love your special needs baby while slashing budgets for the mentally handicapped.

  10. Why must people insult her children...?

Actually I believe you'll find that's an out-and-out insult to her. Not her child.

  11. I would ban the media too, if they wrote stuff like this about me:

"What’s wrong in this instance is the apparent fakery created and sustained for the sake of building pseudo-populist appeal—and selling books. Sarah Palin and HarperCollins have consciously tried to give the impression that she is doing her book tour by bus when the evidence suggests she is not. At every stop, she’s been filmed getting off Big Blue looking rested and radiant. She dazzles onlookers and interviewers with her seemingly bottomless reserves of energy. And no one suspects she may secretly be hopping on and off her main means of transport, UJT750, and resting up in hotels.

Both Palin and the publishing house that has invested so many millions of dollars in her seem to have felt it would send the wrong message to let the “common-sense conservative” be seen winging her away across the country just like any other good old-fashioned Republican CEO.

The people with whom I spent 18 hours in The Villages last week, waiting for Palin, would not begrudge her the luxury jet. But they’re not going to like hearing they’ve been had."

  12. Sarah and the media do not mix.

The woman can't even make it though an interview stacked in her favor without looking like a fool.

  13. Who gives a shit about the kid?

She's not abhorrant because of a baby with downs syndrome.

She's abhorrant because she is a lightning rod for every single single negative aspect of right wing american politics. Xenophobia, anti-intellectualism, paranoia, brining religion into politics in the most negative way possible, all of it.

Of all the things to hate or make fun of her for, and they are almost innumerable, her kid is the very bottom of the list.

    ReplyDelete
  14. "Who gives a shit about the kid?"

It's not about Trig's existence. It's the way Sarah uses him (and her other kids) for publicity but gets selectively outraged when her children are publicly discussed in an unflattering manner. Never mind that she very deliberately put them in the spotlight in the first place. Heck, the only reason we never see more of her eldest son is because he's deployed.

  15. Ashley, the classic case of this is when she went to a Flyers-Rangers game as a campaign stop in Philadelphia and took her daughters Willow and Piper on the ice, knowing full well that Philadelphia was a union town and would take displeasure at her. When she left the ice, she asked "Why would they boo Piper?"

    ReplyDelete
  16. I can't decide if her outrage is a cynical act or if she's genuinely oblivious to the way people perceive her.

    ReplyDelete
  17. "I can't decide if her outrage is a cynical act or if she's genuinely oblivious to the way people perceive her."

I think it's most likely the latter. She comes across as a woman who is used to her looks and charm getting her by 99.9% of the time whenever something difficult comes up.

Which is why it was so humorous when she was outraged after Newsweek used a photo of her in running gear as their cover in a "sexist" manner. Because NOW she's trying to be taken seriously, and the media just won't stop focusing on her looks!

Damn media. Why can't they read my mind? Ban them all!

    ReplyDelete
  18. She has made a fortune out of her "victimization". Sarah is never wrong, it is always the fault of others. The press gives her too much attention and though much of it is negative, it only seals the deal for those idiots who insist that she is a viable candidate for POTUS.

The "poor Sarah" crowd are unable to look beyond the fact that the negativity she invites is based wholly on the fact that the woman is seriously unqualified to run a lunch cart let alone the presidency.

And I am hoping that when the custody hearing begins, Levi decides to spill his guts about this "phoney baloney" from Wasilla. Go Levi!!

  19. Freedom of speech?

Palin's facebook posted: "And who will suffer the most when they ration care? The sick, the elderly, and the disabled, of course. The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama's 'death panel' so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their 'level of productivity in society,' whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil."

Take it in friends. It seems like her platform will be "I'm against everything the black guy is for!" and she's willing to slander the hell out of everything and everyone she feels like. She literally seems to say whatever she feels like.

Not that he would, but can...can Obama, sue her?

How much of her shit does freedom of speech cover?

    ReplyDelete
  20. "I can't decide if her outrage is a cynical act or if she's genuinely oblivious to the way people perceive her."

Cynical act. She was moving the criticism to her children to make the people booing look horrible for booing at a little girl when they were really booing at someone whose views they really hated, who also brought her children out as shields.

"Why are those horrible people booing my innocent child?"
"They weren't, they were booing you"
"Well they shouldn't boo innocent children"

It's more of a cynical act of bringing her children into the spotlight as a shield.

  21. What gets me is she wants to ban the media. Heck, she should be using it. She's had a year now to study up on real issues and she can string a sentence together to shore up our economy and make sure liberty and America, and health care in this respect also, maverick and health care reform also.

  22. Sarah banned press members and what happened?

Bloggers stepped in and insured accountability for covert actions, stopping Sarah dead in her tracks.

They removed the option of having anonymous officials/Palinbots issue leaks praising the event as an unqualified success.

In a nutshell, they turned her triumphant homecoming into an embarrassing defeat.

Sarah is running on pure survival instinct, with the "fight or flight" response kicking in. The Wasilla banning is pitbull in flight.

Sarah trying to sound intelligent in an interview is a painful thing to watch. Looking half-panicked, she dog-paddles in the shallows, splashing wildly with repeated sound bites, and honks at the interviewers.

Freedom of speech does not exist for Sarah. There is no "freedom" about speaking. It's a struggle through three-foot waves and then, as she clears the surf, scrambles onto any passing ice floe in a desperate attempt to find some semblance of terra firma.

Sarah has a problem. She isn't able to articulate her thoughts. Her solution is to level the playing field by eliminating the requirement.

    The Constitution drowns her.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I caught Sarah on Greta for a few minutes last night and I honestly have no idea what the hell she was trying to say. Her responses are convoluted and without substance yet she rambles on and on, always in search of an exit to the heap of words she strings together in an effort to look knowledgable.

What her supporters see in this dimwit escapes me. The "common sense" she evokes throughout would be enough to suggest to anyone with half a brain that she has none. Quitting an elected office midway through the term should be enough to signal "buyer beware" yet the Palinites seem to find nothing wrong with this empty vessel and go on encouraging her to run.

The dumbing down theory at work.

    ReplyDelete
  25. "What her supporters see in this dimwit escapes me."

I know how you feel. You "can't fix stupid." I use to be a Palin supporter, so I still get to hear my share of Palin supporter bullshit. Most of these people won't even let the truth stop them from spreading or telling lies about her.

Actually in my teenage years, I used to attend a Baptist church. (Not by choice.) I already began to see a problem with certain messages they preached (anti-gay, etc), but had no idea how much more deeply into politics they would get! Once they started telling people who to vote for, I got the hell out of there.

I'm so sick of Glenn Beck, Fox Lies--I mean "News," and those that accept anything that comes out of that asshat's mouth that I could pull my hair out.

  26. Most people are pretty set on their ways if they really wanna argue them.

Debates, for example, are to convince bystanders, not the parties involved, because both usually are as set in their ways as the other is.

    So no audience, no debate.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Sarah has never articulated anything in her life.

    She once winked.

Now she arches her eyebrows (gotta get her money's worth out of botox?)

    ReplyDelete
  28. Sarah's grasp of the Constitution is even worse than her grasp of US politics, where her prominence is both deplorable and embarrassing.

Sarah should retreat to the homespun stables she came from and let her Warhol-like fame extinguish as it should: without recognition.

    ReplyDelete
  29. No need to worry everyone as the Constitution expert Dr. 'Patriot' Palin is here!

However, is she advocating the Palinbots won't notice and hope that God will solve it policy or the wink and lie policy she used to such great effect in the campaign?

ps. Sarah, well done for removing yourself from power before something really awful happened.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Such blatant ignorance of Constitutional rights is a career killer for most politicians. The question now is in what area is Sarah most ignorant: The Constitution or science?

From her FB note on climate change: "The emails reveal that leading climate "experts" deliberately destroyed records, manipulated data to "hide the decline" in global temperatures, and tried to silence their critics by preventing them from publishing in peer-reviewed journals."

    1. No, what they did was to manipulate a graph. They didn't manipulate the actual data.

    2. "Silencing their critics" by which she means asking that papers by their critics not be included in a report. This is done by scientists in every field the world over, because nobody wants their rivals' papers published. They didn't do a very good job of influencing people either because the said papers were published alongside their's in the policy documents anyway.

So what Sarah is saying is that, after all these years, all the scientific research, all these scientists, even some oil companies who agree that climate change has to be addressed, they have all been duped by two guys in Norfolk, on the basis of some emails sent years and years ago. Damn, they must all be really thick, eh? Particularly as the information they were trying to suppress was actually published.

How devious of Sarah, like the climate deniers in their PR exercise, and she is spouting the exact memes that first started being disseminated nigh-on 20 years ago by ICE to protect the interests of the Western Fuels Association, the National Coal Association and Edison Electric Institute.

"President Obama's proposal calls for serious cuts in our own long-term carbon emissions."

Aww bless. All those poor 'Patriots' not able to drive around in their gas-guzzling 4 x 4s any more. Such a pity. It will be so hard for some people to have to travel in a vehicle that is smaller than their ego.

But lastly, and more importantly, Sarah believes in The Rapture. She believes that the Messiah will come again and the world will end. Sarah is also one of the evangelicals who believe that, as a result of that, it doesn't matter if Man brings about the end of the world because, perversely, that means that you will force the Messiah to come and you will all be zapped up into heaven safe and sound before Armageddon. She also believes that the world is only 6,000 years old, and she had a Nigerian witch-doctor/evangelical pastor who "casts out demons" by laying his hands on her and blessing her.

Which is why I just point and laugh.

    ReplyDelete
  31. C'mon Hoo Haa, Sarah has a point.

Yes Sarah, the jury is out on climate change, so let's just carry on like before, so 'Patriots' do not have to worry about energy costs. Because if the jury is out on climate change, there is therefore no longer any need to worry about it. It's like... if we are not sure whether it's going to happen, then obviously it could not possibly ever happen.

This is a very scientific point of view, like Creationism.

Also, if the jury is out on climate change, then we do not need to worry about limiting the use of fossil fuels as if the jury is out on climate change, obviously this also means that the fossil fuels will never run out and we don't have to worry about energy security.

Those emails, have proven that nothing will ever matter again ever. Plus, you can see Russia from your house. Case closed.

    Jesus...

  32. Only Fox News, Sarah and the Palinbots are protected by the Constitution. All others can eat Sarah shit.

And I assume, if Sarah Palin is against 'politicised science', as President she would for instance support stem cell research. Oh wait, I get it now, 'politicised science' is Alaskan for 'science I don't agree with.'

  37. Thank you Sarah! As a fellow follower of The Lord, I firmly agree with you that:

Global Warming and evolution are both lies, but the Rapture is obviously the truth.

We have no personal or joint responsibility for slavery because it happened more than 100 years ago, but each of us has a personal debt to Jesus for dying on the cross 2000 years ago.

Suicide is absolutely unforgivable and suicides should be refused death rites, but conservative dictators who slaughtered thousands and gave support to the church are worthy of full honours, if not immediate sainthood.

    Keep up the good work!

    - modelling risk in the post credit-crunch banking world
